As the Utah Turkish community, we’re deeply saddened with the devastating earthquakes that struck Southern Türkiye on February 6th, 2023. With more than 50,000 lives lost, this quake is the worst disaster in modern Turkish history.
On February 6th, Turkey was devastated by several large earthquakes. Members of UTAA have friends and relatives who have been directly affected by the disaster. With more than 50,000 lives lost and more than 2.5 million people are currently living in tent camps and containers with nowhere to go. As with any disaster scenario, we know that children are the most vulnerable. The children in these regions have endured incalculable psychological, economic, and health burdens. We invite you to be a part of the relief for the children of Turkey.
We are raising funds to provide children in Türkiye with better education, health, and wrap-around support after the earthquake. All contributions will go to families and children in need as identified by our local connections on the ground, and our vetted partners such as Child Amputees of the Türkiye Earthquake and Equality of Opportunity in Education for orphans. We are excited to bring our community together to express gratitude for all Utahns’ generosity for the impact their contributions will have on the lives of Turkish families and children.
Please help to build brighter futures for Turkish children and families by sponsoring the 2023 Rebuild Together Benefit on May 31, 2023. We hope that you will join us for an evening of food and music at our 2023 Rebuild Together Benefit on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 at the Zions Bank Building.
