Aydin was born and grew up in Istanbul, Turkiye. He attended Kadikoy Anatolian High School and graduated from Bogazici University with B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry along with M.S. in Chemical Engineering. He moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1999 and received his doctorate degree in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Cincinnati.
He started his professional career in Rochester, NY as a polymer scientist and then moved to Cleveland, OH to work for Lubrizol as an innovation manager.
Along with his professional career, during this 12-year period, he was an active board member for both Turkish Society of Rochester (TSOR) and
Turkish American Society of Northern Ohio (TASNO) and organized many cultural events primarily for children. Aydin established the Turkish School for Turkish Society of Rochester with an enrolment of 15 students on the first educational year with focus on teaching Turkish alphabet, language, culture and Ataturk principles and reforms. Along with his wife Esra, he led a team of volunteers from TASNO to raise funds and organized a very successful International Children’s Festival with participations and performances of children from 5 different countries.
After moving to Salt Lake City with his family in 2017, Aydin fell in love with the nature, climate, culture,
and the people of Utah. He helped to establish the Utah Turkish American Association (UTAA) and
served as the first Vice-president of the association.
As a life-long competition level table tennis player, Aydin participated in more than 50 reginal, national,
and international tournaments and has represented Turkiye in both European and World Veteran Championships. Along with his passion in table tennis, he is obsessed with hiking, climbing, skiing, and camping in Utah. Aydin is married to Esra, and they have two daughters, Alara and Janset.
